Alexander J. Zimmer
Attorney and Mediator
For over 30 years, I have practiced law and helped clients deal with disagreements and conflict. I have worked with domestic and foreign businesses in a wide range of industries including, finance, manufacturing, merchandising and transportation. My experience includes representation of closely-held businesses and families in transition, in a legal and business career devoted to helping clients solve problems. In recent years, I have focused my work on helping parties resolve conflicts and solve problems that arise in businesses and families experiencing evolving roles of key members as they age or move on. Separation and divorce are among the most difficult and stressful situations that people face both individually and as a family. Family members must make choices that will affect everyone involved for the rest of their lives.
Changes brought on by retirement, illness and financial challenges create similar problems for family and other closely-held businesses.
Mediation is far less expensive and much faster than litigation, and it can improve communications between parties, especially parents, who will need to continue to be in contact with each other in the future. Divorce mediation is a process that is designed to help you define issues and discover options that work for you.
The role of the mediator is to be your guide through the process that will give you the power to choose sustainable solutions for resolving disagreements effecting your future, the future of your family, your business or your partners. At the end of the mediation process we will prepare a Memorandum of Understanding that will clearly state the joint decisions that you made. Each of you are encouraged to consult your own attorney to advise you about the Memorandum of Understanding and any other legal documents that may be appropriate.
